    The Bedford County Probation System is a Governmental Agency established by resolution of the Bedford County Board of Commissioners. Effective January 1, 2001, Bedford County Probation System serves as the enforcement arm of the General Sessions Court of Bedford County supervising misdemeanor probationers.

    Bedford County Probation System currently employees a Director, Administrative Assistant, and four (4) supervising Probation Officers. The Interpreter for the Courts also maintains an office in this location. This office currently supervises more than 1,000 misdemeanor probationers.

    Rory Griffy, Director of Bedford County Probation System

    Rory Griffy is an Honorably Discharged US Navy Veteran with undergraduate degrees in Secondary Education, Theology, and Psychology, as well as Graduate Level work in Divinity and Psychological Counseling. He is a 1973 Graduate of Cascade High School, Motlow State Community College, Liberty University, associated professional credentials in criminal justice and counseling.

    Mr. Griffy worked for over a decade with the State of Tennessee as both a Probation Officer and then a Parole Officer. Before Becoming Director of Bedford County Probation, he held the office of Instructor for Probation and Parole at the Tennessee Correctional Academy in Tullahoma, Tennessee, where he taught newly hired employees in many areas of supervision and ethical standards. He is also a member of the Rotary Club, a volunteer in many community service projects, and raises horses with his son as a hobby.

    Credentials include Charter Member of AACC, a professional certification agency for Licensed Psychological Counselors, ASP tactical baton instructor, Graduate of the National Drug Court Institute, and long standing member of the Gamma Beta Phi honors society.
