The Administrator is appointed by the Election Commission and is responsible for organizing all matters related to elections, including voter and candidate registration, conducting the elections, and tallying the votes.
The requirements for Voter Registration are:
· You must be a citizen of the United States.
· You must be a resident of the State of Tennessee for at least 20 days
· You must be eighteen(18) years old on or before the next election
· You must have never been convicted of a felony, or have had your rights restored as required, by law.
*Registration ends 30 days before any election.
Early voting starts on the 20th day prior to any election and ends the 5th day prior to any election.
Call the election office or look in the Times-Gazette for the hours.
By-Mail Voting Regulations:
In order to qualify for voting by mail you must meet the following requirements and submit a complete written request in order to receive a ballot.
· If you will be out of town during all voting periods
· If you are a student enrolled in a college or university located out of the county
· If you are hospitalized
· If you are the caretaker of a hospitalized, ill, or disabled person
· If you are serving on a state or federal jury
· If you are observing a religious holiday
· If you are over 65 years of age or older
You must mail a request in each election if you want to vote by mail. Request should be mailed to:

*Polls open at 9:00 and close at 7:00 cst on Election Day.
The Bedford County Election Commissioners are appointed by the State Election Commission for a two year term. and at this time is made up of three Democrats and two Republicans.
