The administrator is responsible for organizing all matters related to any election held in Bedford County. This includes voter registration, candidates qualifying for an election, conduction the elections and tallying the votes.
Voter Registration
To vote in an election you must be registered. Registration ends 30 days prior to any election. To register you must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of Tennessee and Bedford County, 18 on or before the next election, and never been convicted of a felony or have had your rights restored as required by law.
To register you may come by our office. For your convenience you can print out the form from the internet and mail it to our office. The website is www.state.tn.us/sos/election/registration.htm. If you live in the county and own property in the cities of Bell Buckle, Shelbyville or Wartrace you may be able to register under property rights. This must be done 30 days prior to any of the above city elections. Please contact our office for more information.
Voting
Early voting is conducted in our office in the basement of the courthouse Anyone that is registered to vote in Bedford County can early vote. You do not need a reason as in previous years. Hours vary so check the local Times-Gazette for dates and times. By-Mail Voting is also an option if you qualify. To vote by mail you must complete and submit a written request to vote by mail. Please contact our office for more information and the qualifications.
POLLS OPEN AT 9 a.m. AND CLOSE AT 7 p.m. CST ON ELECTION DAY.
